Luo Er Qi Sells at Charity Auction

The charity auction was organized by Stepping Stones, an organization for assisting migrant school students in Shanghai to master English and pass their key exams. Luo Er Qi Solo Exhibition

This solo exhibition presents the artist’s most recent series of works, ‘Shape of Pictures'. Drawing from his experiences growing up around dance and music ensembles, Luo Er Qi has developed a visual montage, a layering of memories inspired by films, novels, and theater from around the world, including French, American, and Chinese narratives. His works are reminiscent of a world that is familiar yet surreal. A visual linguist, Luo Er Qi's affinity for language and Chinese calligraphy are embodied in his papercut works, which take inspiration from his childhood fascination with Chinese mythology and magical forms.

Life Drawing classes have resumed at the Art Center. Taught by paper cut artist Luo Er Qi, the classes teach students to develop their eye for composition, shading, and proportion. Luo Er Qi also conducts critiques every class.

Stimulated more by the intricacies of shape than of color, Shanghai-born decoupage artist Luo Er Qi strives to capture freedom and movement of form through his elaborate and dynamic paper cut works. Luo Er Qi takes inspiration from his childhood fascination with Chinese mythology and magical forms, and combines this with his classical artistic education and his training in Lithography. His pieces are at once spontaneous and precise, and convey a sense of energy and motion, evoking a dreamlike quality.
